The Process...
The filmmaking process is broken down into three parts.
1. Pre-Production
2. Production
3. Post-Production
Film 10 times more film than you actually need.
Production who does what ?
*Camera Operater/Director of Photography
*Director = come up with shots for film / come up with a visual storyline
*Producer = Control everything to do with the film, be in charge of everything and tell people what to do and when to do it.
*Lighting Technician = Focuses on picking the right lighting for the scene.
Type's of Production.
*Single camera production (cost lots of money , best proformances out of actors by using one camera focused on them , easier during production as the camera is easier to use and put in small places) (Feautre Film , Documentary , Tv Drama , On Location)
*Multi-Camera Production (Tv shows , Game shows , Quiz's , Cut live to different angles no need to stop , Pre Recorded Tv Show , Live Broadcast , In Studio)
How to make moving images.
*Light is everything we see.
*Once you understand light you begin to understand video.
Light
*Soft light (Diffused light)
*Hard light (Direct light)
Tone Range
*Highlights (Really Bright)
*Mid tones (Whole Image)
*Shadows (Really Dark)

Final cut
Non Linear Editing
Final cut pro is a non linear editing programme which means you are able to access any frame in the clip or audio which you are editing regardless of whatever it is you are working with
How to mark clips ?
When you have a clip which is to long and you want to get a specific part of it you can do something called marking which can make the clip shorter and can give you the parts of the clip you want not the whole clip.
How to make a bin?
When you are on the tab in which all the files are you can use the secondary mouse button and scroll down to new there you will see "bin" this is any easier and more compact way to store the files which you are going to be using.

Shining Review
The top critic coments are things like "manages to traverse a complex world of incipient madness. Spectral murder and supernatural visions" but some people have been very negative about the film with reviews like "The crazier Nicholson gets the more idiotic he looks.Shelly duvall transforms the warm sympathetic wife from the book into a simpering and semi retarded hysteric". This shows that many people have different opinions on weither or not the film is a good and smart phychological thriller with bits of horror or is a stupid over the top film where the actors look to rediculous acting crazier and crazier.
In my opinion i feel that most of the actors prefromed well and definetly fit the role perfectly, like jack nicholson for the role of jack torrance. The main part about Nicholson playing Jack Torrance was the way in which he decended into madness from being completly sane and normal at the start to then becoming completly mad and losing his mind and wanting to kill his family.Shelly duvall however overacted the role and was to destrought to do anything and seemed as if she could not do anything at all when jack went mad apart from run away frantically and cry, scream. Danny the role played by Danny Lloyd was acted great with the right reactions at the right time and not getting overly frantic about anything that goes wrong this is also a very good feat as he is only a child in the film of about 7 or 8.
The first example of an unusal use of cinematography is when jack is following wendy up the stairs and she is trying to swing the baseball bat at him, even though she is highier and the camera is looking up to her we still know that jack has the power and is in control of the situation even though he is lower down and presented on the camera to be without power. Another good part where unusual cinematography is used is when the camera is giving and areil veiw of danny, this is unusual because birds eye veiw shots are not usually used inside a build and are mostly used in a wide seting like in a city or a desert. The next example of where unusual cinematography is used is when the camera follows danny round when he is riding his bike around the halls this brings you down to the level which is very

saving ryan
Saving Private Ryan
The setting of Private Ryan is a
battlefield on a beach set in 1944 June 6th (D-day). The scene we
are studying is chapter 2. Captain John Miller (Tom Hanks) is shown of the
advancement to the beach to have nervous body
language as he was shaking with fear that is shown by the close up of his
hand shaking as he picks of his water flask (4:47). The m-e-s in this scene
shows that it’s about the army and the events that took place in real life
during the Second World War; this can be shown by the use of props and costumes that are identical
to army uniforms and weapons used in the second world war.
Further on in this
scene, we can see Captain John Miller (Tom Hanks) looking towards the off-screen space that could suggest he
is looking towards danger as they are heading towards battle, as are the rest
of the army squad.
The camera is
pointed towards the soldiers coming off the boat but not focused as these
characters are not as important as Tom Hanks but are still important enough to
be shown. Also in this scene the background has a very high-key lighting, this could make the audience feel a bit
disorientated as these soldiers are the victims of the bullets that could come
from anywhere.
The colour wash in this scene is very dark
and dull, which represents the feelings of the soldiers as they head into the
battle.
Sound unit 38
Sound is key to any film process.
who does what ?
-Sound Recordist = records all the sound on set.
-Sound Mixer = mixes different sounds together
-Foley Artist = create sounds to mimic/represent sounds within the production.
-Composer = watches the production and comes up with the music which is appropriate
-Sound designer = designs entire sound for production by telling people what he wants them to do
What do we record ?
-Dialogue, individuals and groups
-Background/Atmostsphere, Animate(moving),inanimate(not moving)
-SFX, Foley, Real world
-VFX, Animating, make something visual
-Main Types : Sync(Must be in sync with the production to make sense all the time) , Non sync(Doesn't have to be in sync with the picture to make sense)
-Wild Track, Recording of ambient sound.
All the sounds need to be balanced with each other this is called a mix.
How do we control what we record ?
-Recording Enviroment: The best place where to record
-Must have correct equipment for the correct enviroment
Microphones.
-Shotgun Mic: Directional microphone (picks up sound in front only)
-Omni-directional Mic: Picks up sound from everywhere (any position mic in, sound always picked up)

Rocky planning
in my group ben, callum and me (alex) we have been planning a spoof video of the training scene from rocky one. today we annotated the script and looked at the different camera angles which are used, we where also shown how to book the camera equipment when it comes time to film. we planned the scene in the same way as rocky and it is very recognisable as being the rocky training montage from rocky 1, the main thing that was changed form the original was that it wasn't a training montage for boxing and building stamina it is a boy who has forgot his essay which is due in on the day in which he has forgotten it. the whole video is about him training to do the essay in many different unusual ways. we also went out to check which locations we were going to use in the video. today we also learnt how to put a camera on a tri pod and how to attach it to a dolly.
