Unit 27 assignment 2 Documentary idea
My idea for the documentary is growing up in a generation today and looking back from people from older generations and seeing what they have to say.
what people think its like growing up todays generation and how they think it is good or bad.
What other people think about this generation and how they think what different positives and negatives about it and say what has changed from there generation.
interviews with young people/ peers
interviews with older people different generations.

accuracy:
its not accurate what so ever as they label it as filming the polor bear in the natural habitat yet it is in a secluded environment in the zoo so it gives us the wrong representation of the polor bear in there natural well being environment
bias:
representation: it gives us the wrong representation of them possibly because we dont see them in there natural habitat
it would damage the representation of david Attenborough and the BBC to label them an not trustworthy which could lead to them losing public trust as viewers pay for the BBC

this was a one off show on channel 4 showing life is the UKIP party win the election and it gives a biased point of view towards the leader Nigel farages party.. it received 1656 complaints which makes it one of the most for a one off show the documentary was showing what life would be like if UKIP was in power it shows a division amongst races a mass riots and unemployment and a crashing economy..this shows it is biased on there own views that the UKIP party would as we call it crash and burn if they was able to get into power in the UK
the impact this has is that it gives them such a bad miss representation on his party and shows there views to his party and is biased as it isnt actually based on any past knowledge or experience so its there own views on UKIP it smears there reputation and only shows them in a negative light and shows them as a negative representation for the country
it also will make us believe channel 4 is a biased channels and has its own views on subjects/topics and is biased towards certain topics.. it shows them as unprofessional and not a very trustworthy reliable source of information this can be proved as the amount of complaints they received to be one of the most complaints for a one of is staggering and shows the amount of people that agree it was biased and only showing the UKIP party in a negative light//

the effect that using "fake footage" as on a producer/channel/program is that is give the wrong representation possibly it smears there name and makes them look less genuine and they will recieve critism complaints on this the fact they have chosen to put it in a documentary when it is just there own representation it makes the . but its taken footage from a video game it shows that they are using propaganda to try and get the representation that they want the audience to have on Cornell curdaffi..

Unit 33
Storyboard needs to be wrote under the pictures
Has to have arrows explain what happens and tell when sound comes in and out(example soundtrack of oasis starts when explosion at 30 secs)
realistic length of things.
We set out to make a ww2 stop motion film trailer for a film which we had made up using little green army men, we set out to make something serious and to make it look like a realistic film trailer. I think we were close but not realistic enough and could of polished the stop motion much more to make it look more realistic and serious, one of the best things about our stop-motion would have to be the set as we didn't make a plastic little thing we actually went out to a forest type area to make it again look more realistic. One of the weakest bits in our stop-motion probably had to be the figures which we used as they were very cheap flimsy things and didn't really look good or real, the target audience for the stop-motion were teens to young adults as it fits in the stereotype of men being all about violence and war and enjoying all the stuff makes you a proper man etc .... i think this maybe would be achieved in some cases but in others would not as the little toys make attract younger audiences to the trailer which is not who it is meant to be for. In the stop-motion lots of different sounds were used as from soundtracks and many different gun and explosion sound effects were used again to make it more realistic looking and sounding, the backing track was defiantly the most successful part of the stop motion as it gave it a great atmosphere of being a real movie trailer
Screenshots of parts which show good examples of set and chose and bed examples of figures which look realistic.
This shows a good example of how the figures we used did not look that realistic and took effect away from it.
This again shows the bad figure choice but also shows how good the terain looked and how much more realism.

Finally this screen shot shows how good using a real background and not using something made and how much of an effect it can have on the whole stop motion
My stop motion is very similar to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuIqIvyJrgo this particular as it uses small figures which look abit more realistic than ours but still takes a lot of the realism away from the srop-motion, another thing which is different from mine is the set which is used. You can clearly see that the set is man made and again takes away from the realism aspect of the stop-motion, it is obvious with these two stop motions is that it is very difficult to make small toy soldiers look realistic in a stopmotion without movable limbs, and it also shows that using a natural set outside and not making one looks much better than making something out of cardboard and paper etc ...

unit 21 assignment 1
https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/13VVcJr6vKyS595M_XPvMQQcMIiw4uQIiVrT2SMKF2uM/edit?usp=sharing
Digital filming is the the capturing of images, this is different to the historical norm of film stock .
Digital footage is mainly stored on hard drives and memory cards this makes it much more portable and easier to move about.
Digital capture is mainly used on video tapes, hard disks and flash memory cards. Digital cameras record digital footage as it is the main way to record for that type of camera, since 2010 most new movies have used digital and have also been distributed digitally a-swell.
Recording tv now has become a very popular thing with people wanting it more on demand and ready to watch whenever they want this has invoked big tv providers such as sky, virgin , bt and free-view hd all offering to let you record tv shows and watch them whenever. This causes the programme to be in a particular section in the tv box saved on a hard drive.
HD is becoming much more common in modern society and is taking over everything which is SD but is this a good thing? some people cant even tell the difference from HD to SD so is it really worth the extra money. The main thing which is different from SD to HD is the amount of pixels in the image http://dmediamom.com/2013/08/09/hd-vs-sd-is-it-worth-paying-extra-for-hd-digital-videos/ this link gives lots of good points on both sides saying do old films even look different from the original and do you even want to see particular things in HD anyway. It all depends on personal opinion obviously HD puts out a clearer and better image but some people just prefer SD.
Editing is one of the key parts of media and there are many different softwares such as final cut pro, adobe premiere and sony vegas
Final cut pro - Final Cut Pro is the name given to a series of non-linear video editing software programs - first developed by Macromedia Inc. and later Apple Inc. The most recent version, Final Cut Pro X 10.2, runs on Intel-basedMac OS computers powered by OS X version 10.9
Adobe premiere - Adobe Premiere Pro is a timeline-based video editing software application. It is part of the Adobe Creative Cloud, which includes video editing, graphic design, and web development programs , This is used by tv stations such as bbc and CNN.
Sony vegas - Sony Vegas Pro is a video editing software package for non-linear editing systems originally published by Sonic Foundry, now owned and run by Sony Creative Software. originally only used for editing audio only.
The best editing software has got to be final cut pro as it has the most accessibility and ease of use for the user and has the most ways in which you can edit different types of media.

Unit 16 timeline
1903 was when editing was first introduced with the addition of reverse cranking, this allowed the film to be exposed several times and therefore make super positions and super exposure. The first film what this was used on was scrooge in 1901
Another big thing which happened in the early 1900 would be the creation of cross cutting in the movie the great train robbery which was made by Edwin s Porter.
The next big development in film editing was the montages, this was done in two different ways. One way in which this was done was the first was Eisenstein created the montage edit with the battleship potenkin in the scene odessa. This scene was good as it was the first of its kind including a montage showing lots of different things such as people and locations and what is happening individually.
The next key development was the begging of neo-realism . This was created by and italian called roberto Rossellini and was first shown in a film called rome open city, Neo realism is basically a sign of social change in italy. These films were often shot in streets
Silent films - These films have no sound atall in apart from a piano or something to create like a rhythm or a mood for the film it is mainly made by the body language of the actors in the film which tell the story
Hollywood studio - This type of film has sound lights and actors it is a proper high end film with lots of production value this was the first of the kind.
American new wave - Again just adding to Hollywood studio this added new things to the film industry such as Zooming shots to show the facial reactions of the actors, cross cuts to create tension and show what other people are doing at the same time in the same scene and finally transitions such as cross dissolves and similar ones.
High concept cinema - Next in the cinema front was high concept cinema which was changing everything about the scene while it may still be going on this includes such things as the speed of the scene the zoom and editing such as the light.
1990 Digital editing introduced - This added a whole no concept to the idea of editing films as things which were previously not able to be done. this meant that the editing could be done much quicker than previously and could edit lots more which would make the film have less mistakes and more real as you could inspect all the cuts and things more closely.
Today - Editing in modern day is more about cgi and creating things which are not there with editing a good example of this would be in the smash of 2009 avatar which was absolutely full of the top of the line cgi, this is a good example of how far cgi has come from when it was started over 100 years ago and what it is like today.
One of the main and big ones for editing was the 180 degrees which is where in a film if you have two people talking to each other you can only move the camera 180 degrees as it would mess up the scene and look like they were talking to themselves.
Jump cuts
This is a transition between two shots which appears to “jump” due to the way the shots are framed in relation to each other. Jump cuts are usually caused by framing which is quite similar.
Cutting on Action
The editor can film two different shots at different times and different locations and can edit them together and cut from action to action to make the film high tension and action.
Matched cut - (trick) - As if the scene continues but it cut to another scene
This is a cut is between two different objects or two different spaces and two different compositions where objects in the two shots graphically match, often helping to establish a strong continuity of action and linking the two shots metaphorically.
Another big thing which happened in the early 1900 would be the creation of cross cutting in the movie the great train robbery which was made by Edwin s Porter.

Cutting on Action
dramatic tension, action sequences
This is mainly used in films to build tension right before a big action film, this is a good technique to use as it makes the film build up to something and gets the audience going.
Matched cut - (trick) - As if the scene continues but it cut to another scene
This is a cut is between two different objects or two different spaces and two different compositions where objects in the two shots graphically match, often helping to establish a strong continuity of action and linking the two shots metaphorically.
unit 8 assignment 2 part 2
violence/fighting - things which will influence young children to do bad things to each other.
Gore - things which will scare children and make them have nightmares
inappropriate language - swearing and cursing to other people which might cause them to repeat the word
Drug/substance abuse - could see it and think that its okay and get influenced todo it
Ethics - This is basically what is right and wrong, a big example of ethics would be murder as everybody knows that murder is wrong but in some cases in can still be murder but not classed as murder on an ethical scale so therefore it has lots of ethical conundrums. Two of the biggest ethical problems with murder are killing someone during a war and having an abortion. this being a big part of ethics it is not what it is all about, other big part of ethics is how you are brought up and how you are shaped as a person such as group of friends, media which you watch, and area which you are raised in.
Lots of kids tv shows such as bob the builder, noddy and balamory promote lots of good ethics for children showing how good it is working part of a team and also showing diversity between lots of different people. However its not all kids programmes which have a ethical aspect to them shows such as breaking bad have lots of ethical aspects such as him committing crimes which is wrong but he is doing it for the good reason of helping his family and providing his son and wife money to look after them after he is gone. Another big show with lots of ethical aspects and ethical grey areas is dexter which is a show about a serial killer who kills serial killers.
Skins
shameless
Geordie shore
south park
The Inbetweeners
I think that in some cases it could be more ethical, certain tv shows could be anyway but they cannot be blamed for poor behaviour as it is peoples own choice on how they act and the choices that they make. This is basically just a scape goat for people to blame something instead of themselves https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=iFOZz3EoBnwC&pg=PT10&lpg=PT10&dq=tv+ethics+do+not+change+behavior&source=bl&ots=4hkdv-PTD9&sig=O5Bb5UN8kE8WCcgmvPWlvfyQXig&hl=en&sa=X&ei=FpLsVK7yIPGS7AbEuIHwBA&ved=0CDQQ6AEwAw#v=onepage&q=tv%20ethics%20do%20not%20change%20behavior&f=false / In this article it states that it has nothing todo with the shows which people watch as people are more developed than to be influenced by things which they watch and hear, The only one acceptance to the ethical part would be south park as it is aimed at just to offend people and as its a cartoon people dont see it as bad as if south park had real people in and was not a cartoon it would have been banned of tv in the first season. http://southpark.wikia.com/wiki/People_for_the_Ethical_Treatment_of_Animals in this other article it explains one of the ethical problems with south park of the many but this is the only one which has very bad ethical problems. In this short clip you can see one of the other big ethical problems with south park concerning religion https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpfQt2VQ67Q , Other shows such as geordie shore do show bad things such as drinking to excess and using very offence language, however people already act like this and did act like this way before geordie shore was on tv and they still will a long time after it ends. Tv the way it is right now is fine and has no ethical problems which some people think there are in this article http://www.mediaethicsmagazine.com/index.php/browse-back-issues/143-spring-2012/3998421-changes-in-the-ethic-of-television it says that tv should be more ethical in a good way but makes mountains out of mole hills trying again to use the wrong and bad things they do on tv shows instead of blaming the person who is actually to blame. one more example of something where tv has represented a specific ethnic group is in the Doctor who episode, journey to the centre of the tardis. This particular episode of doctor who got lots of complaints on how some of the characters were represented in the episode more specifically the 3 black salvage workers who take the doctor hostage and are looking to salvage things from him but people saw this as the show stereotyping them and making them look aggressive by taking them hostage and then salvaging people said it was just another word for steal. This caused alot of problems for the show and the writers and producers of the show came out to say that it was never the intention or had crossed there minds about what people might say. this is the next time for the episode.
Should and shouldn't be shown ?
Some things which should and shouldn't be shown on tv are key parts of human life such abortion, sexual activity, opinions of racist and homophobes, execution and self harm. One of the main things which shouldn't be shown on tv are executions as it is basically killing someone infront of millions of people which is something very personal to the person on who it is being inflicted on, plus people don't want to see someone be killed on tv. Another big one which shouldn't be shown on tv are exorcisms as again someone wouldn't want to see an exorcism and it may go against there own religion aswell which again makes more reasons why it shouldn't be shown on tv. However certain things should be shown on tv such as real violence and crimes for shows such as crime watch to educate the public about what has happened and what crimes are happening in specific areas of the country.
This argument has caused lots of fuss about if tv should have more shows with good ethics but personally feel that tv is fine the way it is and people should stop trying to scape goat from it.
Jade goody-
The programme was un ethical in a way but it was showing what some people in this country are like and how they view other people so in a way it educates the audience and showing what some people are like and how they act when they are with a certain ethnicity group, however channel 4 could of chose to do this in a much better way and handled the situation much better as it probably ended up causing much more hassle than publicity and positives of what has happend. channel 4 did get in trouble for what happened on big brother and had breached the code of conduct.
BBFC
When was it founded ? 1912
When was the video recordings act introduced ? 1984
What was it ? Any video recording sold in the uk has to have a classification by someone/ an authority
For 72 years video was released to the public without an age classification.
The problems what the BBFC had with the human centipede 2 are how graphic and disgusting some of the scenes in the film were when they watched it for review, One of the main problems of the film was why he was apparently doing the centipede was some sexual reason which people at the bbfc found this to be to disturbing. The Director of the film said that it was just a film with some strong language and that it is also fiction, something clever which the director also said was that the film was a horror film and should it be horrific. Another one of the main contriverities of the film was the amount of horrific things it contained such as total degradation, humiliation, mutilation, torture and murder. This ended up being to much for the bbfc and completely banned the film from being shown or sold anytime in the uk obviously this annoyed the film maker and prompted him to say what he did about the bbfc and things about the film such as it being fiction and a horror. My opinion of the film would be that it should be rated as an R18 as it contains lots of things that young people under the age of 18 would find disturbing and even some people over the age of 18 will still find disturbing but it doesn't deserve not to be seen by anyone in the uk.

The main competitors for disney pictures are studios such as Twenty first century fox, Time warner and NBCuniveral Media llc, http://marketrealist.com/2014/01/disneys-competitors/ this link shows that disney are still leading the race by a mile but some of these smaller companies are gaining more revenue each year and may catch up to disney but not soon. One of the main reasons why disney is so popular and earns so much money each year is because of how many other companies they own and what they do for the company and how much extra revenue they bring in keeps disney in the lead. Some of the other companies which disney own are Pixar animation studios which is one of the main ones producing such films as toy story, frozen and finding nemo.
One of the main positives of a conglomerate would be the company would never end up going under and would earn extra revenue for the company which it is owned by to increase the income of the other companies which the main one owns so that the value of all of the other companies can improve in value, which would eventually keep the company getting bigger and bigger as time went on. However this could stop competition between the different companies and then nothing would be different it would constantly the same thing pumping out from the main company which owns the conglomerate and people would get bored of the same thing, another bad thing about one company owning lots is that if the main company is bought by someone else it would effect all the other companies which are part of the conglomerates
bbc
The bbc stands for british broadcasting corporation, this is the broadcasting company funded by the british public with tv licences.
The main way which the bbc is funded is by the tv licence that people have to pay to watch tv, this can be paid Yearly, monthly and quarterly. The total cost of the tv licence for a full year is 145.50, the other ways which you do not need a tv licence is if it is closed circuit broadcasting and playing videos and dvds for training purposes.
The bbc is structured like any other big company apart from the main boss of the bbc is the british public but it has a director and high up mangers and people also it has producers and directors for the tv shows which they produce and they have a full camera crew and things similar to that for the amount of tv shows they make they have to have a massive crew.
The bbc has received lots of complaints about what they show on there channels more recently it was about the ukip elections http://www.theguardian.com/media/2014/may/30/bbc-complaints-ukip-election-coverage-bias This link tells how over 1000 people complained about the ukip elections and what they complained, the main complaint was that the channel was being biased towards Nigel faragre and was being biased towards his particular ukip.
What is the competition ?
The main rivals of the bbc are channel 4 as it is one of the more popular channels not funded by the bbc tv licence. One of the main reasons why channel 4 are so popular is because it is so ahead of every other channel in what it broadcasts out, this is because all of the factual information which the channel gives out in a wide range of programmes such as goggle box, educating Yorkshire and benefits street. This gives the channel an edge which the bbc does not have as channel 4 take risks which bbc wouldn't and in most cases the risks pay off and are a big success.

What new technology have they developed and how have these new technologies changed we watch a/ use the bbc ?
The main thing that has changed the way people watch the bbc is the creation of the iplayer for all bbc channels. This is a website where it is available to watch past tv shows which you may have missed on the actual channel and then watch them where you want and when you want. This completely changed the channel giving people the freedom which they had never been able todo with bbc channels before.
bbc iplayer is across a wide variety of internet tv's game consoles and tv boxes such as sky and freesat, this helps the bbc get all of there programmes across to an audience which normally would not view the channel and therefore would not have as big an audience. This also helps bbc stay modern and up to date so that it doesn't end up being something of the past that doesn't get through the changes of tv as they come in the next 10 years. Another big part of this is now that you can watch bbc shows anywhere as it is on mobile devices which makes it much more accessible and easy to watch.
One of the main issues with big conglomerates owning lots of the production process is that they can chose exactly what the public get to view and choose what is appropriate which people may find to controlling on what they are watching as some people may not find something wrong or offence but because the conglomerate owns lots or all of the production process they can decide what happens to it and if it is shown or not to the public. However this can also be good as it doesn't show certain people things which they shouldn't see such as young children seeing violence and cursing on the tv as the conglomerate which owned the production to that into account as another channel would show things like that as they are owned by themselves so they can decide it is appropriate to show when it isn't. http://mediaculturesociety.org/2013/01/30/media-convergence/ This link talks about the points such as the problem with lots of big conglomerates owning so much is good and bad while also talking about how big companies can be a big help to advertisers by giving smaller companies more chance to get products advertised to a wider audience than they would. One big point that it makes is how small media companies have no chance to compete with these large conglomerates with endless money and resources to do whatever they wish to get rid or buy out the smaller company and add them to the conglomerate, however one thing which can help small companies is when they find an idea which can cause a small company to grow at a very rapid rate and therefore cause big conglomerates to notice. One good example of this is Netflix the online streaming service for films and tv shows has recently gained lots of following and a mass increase in profit causing it to become one of the biggest media companies in modern society.
The main successful films of disney box office are
1.Toy story 3 - 415,004,880
2.Frozen - 400,738,009

this is clever because it means every single unit of money Disney pictures receives from producing there film they receive 100% of the revenue as it is all mass produced within the company they dont have to pay any percentage of it to other companies because it is all done within there own conglomerate this is a very clever and very successful technique as any profit they make is solo and only to them it proves successful as we look onto there successful box offi-ce films and we see the profit they make within the company making them a staggering $80 billion. Disney pictures and Walt disney is also horizontally integrated this means they own a mass of companies that have no correlation between each other for example they own disney studios, disney channel, marvel studios, lucas films but they also own things such as ESPN (sports) but even bigger than that they make one of the most eye opening attractions in the worlds in disney land paris which has Disney on ice also inside to sum up they own a mass amount of separate companies that make them horizontal to make and produce a film but on the other hand own various companies that are for several other things such as sports music disney on ice ect..\

10 prep work tasks
These pictures are good examples of productions that use more than one camera, this is called a multicamera production.
A multi-camera setup is when several camera's shoot the same thing at all different angles and height to try and get the best shot, genrally 2 camera shoot close ups and then other cameras further back. This is useful as it can gets lots of different shots at once and no time is wasting time moving cameras about. another way in which multi-camera is used is when it is outside or when something is not shot in a studio are sporting events such as football and other sporting events.
here is a image of what a multi camera setup should look like -
Some example of multi - camera production are
It is used in these shows as there are that many people on the screen and that many different places they need to get instant reactions for the actors on the cosby show and then the other people who are on big brother.
Single camera production is when one camera is used and only one, it only gets one angle of the programme. This is better for some shows such as sitcoms with a live audience and similar shows as it helps the tv show focus on one of the main characters of the programme so that the audience is more focused on one person on the screen at one time.
These are a couple of examples which show good uses of single camera production It is mainly used in these two shows as it makes one character the centre of the attention and makes the audience focus on that particular person for example in scrubs it is mostly about the main character j.d so the camera mainly follows him around but some other episodes focuses on other people such as turk or Dr cox, however in the inbetweeners the camera mainly sticks with will but can sometimes move away and focus on one of the other four boys.

Big brother
In this show you can see a multi-camera being used so that it can get lots of different people's reactions on scene and once and so that nothing is missed, this is useful when there are a large group of people in something and some of them are in different places than the other. At the time code 0;45 to 1;05 you can see that the camera keeps cutting between different places in the house to show people's different parts in the conversation and to show where they are in the house.
multi - camera is useful here again as it is showing the different reactions of people back stage and showing the reaction of the audience to what is happening and shows better angles when sometimes the show kicks off so that the audience misses nothing while the other camera's can still be recording other things. At the time codes 0;50 continuing throughout you can see that this has similar cuts to the big brother clip showing peoples reactions to things being said and showing where they are.
World cup final - Germany VS Argentina
In this clip you can see that multi - camera again is used so that the audience can see every angle in which something happens for example this is most useful when people dispute and goal and the only thing which could of truly seen what happened would of been the camera. As you can see at the timecode 1;29 to about 1:30 you can see that the camera shot goes from a close up to a wide shot showing the players faces and then going to a wide pan of the pitch showing the player and then where they will be playing.
The football coverage is much different as it has a much larger area to cover and therefore cannot focus on an individual or a few individuals for the same amount as time as big brother or the jeremy kyle show. All three of these shows use multicamera in there own way but still use it to an successful advantage for there particular type of show, the main ways in which the multicamera is different on each show is simple for example on big brother it keeps the audience interested in what is happening with a couple of people or what some people are arguing about but on football the main use of multi-camera is to build tension when one side is on a break or its a penalty

Unit 33 evaluation
Evaluation
Our film trailer, 'Jungle Warfare' is a story about soldiers from the second world war taking battle in the urban jungles and forests. Our story line is about the green soldiers vs the black soldiers and as the green soldiers come through the jungle, they are ambushed by the black soldiers until they regroup and fight back, even with planes falling from the sky and tanks coming through the forest and attacking the green and beige soldiers. Explosions and fires swarmed through the jungles during the fall by grenades and more killing off many of the soldiers which we have tried to reconstruct through this trailer such as the explosions and soldiers alight.
We set out to make a film trailer symbolising the horror of the wars happening in the world with diegetic sounds of soundtracks and iconic speeches that shook millions of people and have lasted in history. We wanted to make the audience feel like they understand what happened to soldiers as they butchered down by weapons yet with the influencing iconic message behind the story. The speech was by the Prime Minister at the start of the second world war where he states that they are at war with Germany. It is a haunting message that we have used to get across to the audience so they know that this is a film trailer about the second world war.
We wanted to make our film trailer an action drama to target our audience to symbolise that the trailer is serious and the results were devastating and overall the whole event was a tragedy with very little positivity so we believed it was only fair to show the true pain and recklessness of the war with all the explosions and gunfire sounds, to highlight madness and chaos which did happen.
Our goal was to make a hard hitting trailer and I believe we have achieved this through the realistic battles such as ambushes and chaotic scenes. We may have not been able to edit in the explosion scenes although we clearly could show the effects that battles does to the soldiers as the majority fall down and die.
Overall on the animation there were many different parts that shone out in terms of fluidity and entertainment, however I believe my favourite scene is the tan coming into the action. This is because now the audience see real artillery and war vehicles becoming more known in the scene. The set was quite a calm backdrop such as grass covering the soldiers making the area seem a peaceful setting as the tank goes past and dives towards the enemy. The sound then helps to create the story line as there are sounds of explosions, planes crashing into the ground and more. The tank if bulldozing though this and the audience can tell this from the sound. The last scene of when the tank stops and aims the gun in different directions was also very well thought out as the its changing scene directly after the gun aims at the soldiers, with a massive explosion then being heard in the background. The audience will know that the tank shot the gun and will ave killed those soldiers. This overall was my favourite scene as it highlighted the destruction machinery could do to people and shows what really happened to many people even though it is a reconstruction.
However, despite the many good scenes, there were a few poor scenes that we wish we could have performed better. I would say the worst scene was at 35 seconds into the trailer where they begin to have a firefight on a bridge and are very close together. Overall I would say it wasn't good as the soldiers weren't moving together and many who moved in different directions didn't make any sense. The soldiers should have been closing in on each other bu they did not and this was our fault. The majority of this scene was distorted and unprofessional I believe.
From the violent nature of the story line I would range this trailer to the age of 13 and above. This is because I believe children shouldn't be seeing tanks and hear explosions and plane crashes while toy soldiers are butchered down. This is very different to the soldiers who run around the house in movies like Toy Story. The soldiers in this trailer are reenacting the brutality of war. I believe we achieved in showing this to the right target audience as teenagers are getting more used to history of the power of war and the suffering that was caused from this. We wanted to send a powerful message to 13 year old's that war caused many deaths and even though it is toy soldiers, people of this age will be able to relate to it.
The sound in many ways helped the end product of the trailer as it made the scenery more powerful with explosions, gunshots and more as well giving additional sounds to the background. The main song throughout the trailer is the soundtrack of, 'Band of Brothers' which was also a war series in the second world war. This is the reason we used it as it would seem more fluent to the time and story line of the trailer. Next there are sounds of marching and messages from soldier to build up the tension. This was very successfully completed as the audience could now feel what the solders were thinking, it was chaos and they had to keep cal and fight with pride. Then there are sounds of artillery, machine guns firing from all different directions adding to the hectic scenery, soldiers had been ambushed and they do not know how to recover, they are being butchered down then the background noise come into frame, the explosions of a plane crash with roar audio of a tank moving into scene as it becomes louder as it draws nearer. The heartbeat audio is also used throughout the trailer to add a tension and slow the whole process down, everything calms when the heartbeat sound can be heard clearly on its own. Last of all is the speech From Pime Minister Ed Chamberlain, who states Britain is at war with Germany. This is one of the most iconic speeches of all time and would have shook fear into millions of people. We wanted to recreate this chilled message to the audience as all they can hear is this with the heartbeat audio behind it, which adds to the bittersweet feeling of what millions of people would have thought.
Screening
We shown our stop motion animation to a 8 people in the library to get their opinion on trailer and whether it was a success or failure.
First we asked their opinion on the story line and if they could understand what was happening, the majority of responses we got were very positive and some stated they could clearly understand what was going on, however it would've been better if the trailer lasted another minute as the action is very fast and the viewer has to be watching it constantly. I believe this was also true as the action was far too fast in the first 30 seconds so it was very hard for them to keep up with action.
The majority of the people were positive towards the character design as toy soldiers, the feedback was quite good as they stated it was overall an original idea that not many people see as it requires a lot of work to do but our efforts were shown in the overall production.
The common view on the set design was again a positive one as they believed it added to the war type situation, a jungle where an ambush and battle occurs. The majority of the attitude was relatively upbeat as the location and urban setting was seen as good background for a war battle as it looked secluded and quiet, then all of a sudden a firefight begins. Only 2 people also realized that the scenes were taken in different settings as well which again was a big plus as we had believed more may have spotted it.
As a whole the trailer seemed to be a [positive but responses to the time and scenes of distorted battles going on did impact their overall view on the trailer. Such scenes as the soldiers on fire and the battle in the first 30 seconds being very distorted, needed to be longer so people could understand it clear was the general response. They agreed as a verdict that the trailer should have been longer to clear up the scenes that are confusing.
Again like the others, the general response regarding the target audience was positive as they agreed the stop motion animation should have been aimed at teenagers. However, 3 people stated that although it should be aimed at teenagers, children from the age of 10 could watch this and understand a bit more about how powerful the war was. Personally I disagree and believe it is too young for them as an audience because they are not used to seeing images like these at this age. I believe teenagers can relate to it more as they are just entering secondary school, it is an evolving stage for them as the become more known with outside world and history of war, so this trailer would fit into that slot for them too watch as it is not too graphic and depicts the real world events that still happen to this day. The responses did impact my target audience though and I believe it should now be from 12-15 as this is the learning curve for hildren watching war so this type of film trailer could be a starter for them as they learn more.
Overall I agree with the answers from the screening as they were upbeat and also change my opinion on the target audience. I do believe that the trailer should have been made longer and fill in many parts with more battles so it easier for the audience to understand get to grips with actions taking place. The general response regarding all the questions I set out was a positive result that has effected my own opinion on the trailer and I agree with the verdict that the trailer should have been longer but was still a very good piece on its own merits.

Continuity edit/invisible editing
Jump Cuts - Is a type of transition from one scene to another. This type of edit gives the effect of jumping forwards in time. Here is a good example of a jump cut from an old film breathless, a scene when he's in his car driving and their are many examples of this happening:
Cutting on action - Cutting on action or matching on action refers to film editing and video editing techniques where the editor cuts from one shot to another view that matches the first shot's action. Here is a very good example of cutting on action in a scene from the Matrix:
Cross cutting - Dramatic tension, action sequences - Cross-cutting is an editing technique most often used in films to establish action occurring at the same time in two different locations. In a cross-cut, the camera will cut away from one action to another action, which can suggest the simultaneity of these two actions but this is not always the case. Here is an example of cross cutting from a scene from the film inception:
Matched out - Trick - As if the scene continues but it cuts to another scene - is a cut in film editing between either two different objects, two different spaces, or two different compositions in which objects in the two shots graphically match, often helping to establish a strong continuity of action and linking the two shots metaphorically

The living room of the future -
Holographic tv - To improve the experience of the person who is watching the tv and to make it look more realistic.
Interactive tv - Again make the viewing experience more realistic and to make it connect with the audience more.
Streaming tv - Giving people the tv they want when they want it, this feature allows people to watch what they want when they want to.
The future of british television is that it is all being bought up by big american media companies in bulk, the main impact of this could be that majority of the tv shows shown on tv are american and no original british programming is shown anymore. This could be bad as google and apple already own the internet basically and now if they own tv also they will completely control what media we receive and what we dont.
