Facilites
In educating yorkshire they used lots of specialist equipment for recording the interveiws which they had but most of the filming was done by the schools cctv and camera's which they set up close to where the cctv was already in the school
To make a documentary like educating yorkshire not much equipment is needed really apart from equipment to film the one to one interveiws which the documentary makers have with the students and teachers at the school other than that the only other thing which is needed is the schools cctv footage and camera to record locations around the school where camera's are not.
All the equipment need would cost around 1000-1500 pounds due to the hiring cost of the camera's per day and the lighting and equipment needed during the interveiws with staff at the school.
The main importance of having the right kit is to make people act normally like they are not on camera, like in educating yorkshire if a camera crew were going round the school corridoors just walking about with the students also they make act differently to how they normally would i this would not give the affect of what normal school life is like on a normal day.
Materials and copyright
The only other footage used in educating yorkshire is from the schools cctv cameras which the school have obviously give permission to channel 4 to go through the schools camera records to pick out spesific bits which fit with the programme and shows the audience what actually happens in schools on a daily basis in yorkshire.
No popular music was used in the show as none was needed as they never had any shots which showed a landscape or anything and the intro for the programme was made and produced by channel 4 itself so no clearance was needed from anyone.
Clearance and Copyright are what people put on their music which they have produced or sung in, this means whenever someone else wants to use their song in a programme or film they have to get clearance from the producer of songwriter before they can put it in the film or tv show, many clearance reqeauts get accepted with some ammout of money going to the producer of songwriter however sometimes the song will not be cleared and the film or tv producer will have to completly change a scene around just because the specific music track cannot be used in the film.
Materials and Contribution
In the documentary there were not specialist adivsors used or interveiwed and the only people that were interveiwed were people that either work at the school or students that attend the school, the main person which was interveiwed throughout the whole documentary was the head teacher of the school as he was the closest thing to a specialist they wanted, in each episode the headteacher was interveiwed but a different student would be focused on in each episode and interveiwed for that one episode only and then in the next episode another couple of children would be focused on and changing each episode but one person who was continuesly interveiwed every episode was the head teacher Mr Mitchell.
